Diseases from wearing sanitary pads: Women use sanitary pads in large numbers, especially during periods to relax and maintain hygiene. But the question arises from time to time whether wearing sanitary pads for a long time can cause serious diseases like cancer? This concern among women is justified, especially when they stay outside for hours and are not able to change the pad. This reason for concern becomes stronger when a research regarding this revealed that sanitary pads sold in the market can be quite dangerous from health point of view. The logic behind this is that companies add chemicals to it, which can cause cancer and infertility. Let us tell you how much truth is there in this.

Does cancer really happen?

In all the media and medical articles published regarding this, it is mentioned that sanitary napkins of famous companies manufactured in India can cause cancer. It has been told in the report that these are not made entirely of cotton, but cellulose gel is used in it. Apart from this, pads also contain dioxin, which can increase the chances of getting ovarian cancer. In the year 2022, Toxics Link, an organization working on environment in Delhi, had done research on this. In this entire research, he included 10 brands and found that many such chemicals were present in them, which can cause many types of diseases. In some research, chemicals or trace-contaminants like phthalates, VOCs, dioxins, phenols and parabens have been found in menstrual products.
