Sanjauli Mosque News Shimla Devbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti Protected Against Namaz Ann

Himachal pradesh news: The controversy over the disputed mosque of Sanjauli in Shimla has once again deepened. On Friday, the atmosphere was hot for offering Namaz here, where people of the Muslim community reached the mosque to offer Namaz, on the other hand, the workers of the Hindu organization Devbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti took to the road and opposed it and started recitation of Hanuman Chalisa.

The committee says that on May 3, the Municipal Corporation Shimla’s court has been ordered to demolish the entire construction of the mosque as illegal. Despite this, religious activities continue in the mosque. Committee workers have become active in protest against this.

Police stopped, then allowed prayers

On Friday, when the people of the Muslim community moved towards the mosque for namaz amidst tight security and barricading, the police stopped them for some time and let them go further after questioning. During this time, members of the Devbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti also reached there and started reciting Hanuman Chalisa on the road to protest against the Namaz.

Allegations of bias on administration

The committee’s co-convenors Madan Thakur and Vijay Sharma accused the police administration of bias, saying that while they were prevented from doing religious text outside the mosque, the Muslim community was allowed to offer prayers. He warned that if this is the attitude of the administration, then the struggle will intensify in the coming days. An emergency meeting of the committee has also been called on Friday evening, in which a decision will be taken on the future strategy.

Madan Thakur has also raised the demand to stop the power and water supply of the mosque complex and stop the movement there. He said that a decisive struggle will start on this issue.

The Devbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti has said that no religious activity should be allowed there until the mosque is completely demolished. Vijay Sharma said that if the administration can stop Hindu organizations, then the same rule should be applicable to the Muslim community.

The controversy has erupted even before

Let me tell you that this matter first came into the limelight in August 2024 when there was a clash between two communities in the Maliya area of the city in which a person was injured. After this, the tension outside the mosque increased further on 1 September. On September 11, the police had to lathicharge in a fierce demonstration by Hindu organizations in which many protesters and policemen were injured.

The court of Municipal Corporation Shimla Commissioner Bhupinder Atri had issued a final order to demolish it on 3 May 2025, declaring the complete construction of the mosque illegal. The Muslim side is preparing to challenge the matter in the district court.
