Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday (September 12, 2025) that his country would host the next Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan (SCO) summit in 2027. He asked the officials to start preparations for this in the national capital.
Sharif made this announcement while addressing a program related to a road development project in Rawat area of Rawalpindi. The Prime Minister said, ‘We should start preparing now.’ He did not reveal the date of the summit, which is organized by the member countries.
‘Islamabad will have to make beautiful’

He said, ‘We need to build housing and make Islamabad beautiful.’ The host of the next summit has been announced after less than a month of the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China, where Pakistan raised the issue of Indus Water Treaty (IWT).
India had spoken about the Pahalgam terror attack and the terrorist organizations in Pakistan at this summit. At the same time, SCO member countries also strongly condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack in a manifesto and agreed to India’s tough stance that ‘double standards’ are unacceptable in the fight against terrorism.
3 days holiday in Pakistan for summit
Let us know that Pakistan last hosted a meeting of SCO government heads in 2024. At that time Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had said that the entire region should work together on the strength of better connect with each other and invest in it. The government had declared a three -day holiday for the summit.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was established on 15 June 2001 in Shanghai city of China. It initially included China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The full member of the Bharat Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was formed in the year 2017. Its purpose is to promote regional security, economic cooperation and political stability.
