According to a report by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), ICC is considering including Scotland in place of Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2026. But till now the ICC has not held any talks with Scotland regarding this. It was claimed in media reports that ICC has asked BCB to take a decision on participation in the World Cup by January 21. If Bangladesh refuses to come to India, then Scotland can be included in the tournament in their place.
ICC will take a big decision for T20 World Cup 2026
Citing security reasons in India, Bangladesh had demanded ICC to shift its matches to Sri Lanka. But ICC rejected BCB’s demand. After which BCB has said that it will not participate in T20 World Cup 2026. According to media reports, if ICC takes a decision on Bangladesh, then Scotland can take their place in the tournament. However, the BBC report states that the ICC has not made any contact with Cricket Scotland in this regard.
BCB refused to come to India due to security reasons
Despite frequent talks between the ICC and the BCB, no solution has been found to the controversy over India not attending the T20 World Cup 2026, which started after Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the 2026 Indian Premier League on the instructions of the BCCI. After which, BCB, citing security concerns, said that its national team will not go to India for its group matches in Kolkata and Mumbai. The schedule of the tournament has already been decided, hence the ICC has rejected Bangladesh’s demand to shift the matches to co-host Sri Lanka.
