Screen time is increasing between exams, how to motivate children of junior classes towards studies?

As soon as the months of February-March arrive, an examination atmosphere is created in schools. This time is very important especially for the children of junior class. But nowadays it is being seen that the inclination of small children is increasing towards TV, mobile and video games rather than studies. Its effect is clearly visible on their studies, concentration and behaviour. In such a situation, the biggest question before the parents is how to explain it to the children and how to divert their attention towards studies.

Children learn what they see at home. If the environment at home is conducive to studies, then the child himself will show interest in studies. At the time of examination, it is important to turn on less TV in the house, use less mobile phone and maintain a calm environment. Also, talk to the children like a friend. Ask them in which subject they are facing difficulty and how they can be helped.

In today’s digital age, mobile and TV have become a part of children’s daily routine. Many times, due to being busy, parents give mobile phones to their children, so that they remain calm. Gradually this becomes a habit and the child starts demanding mobile even while studying.

changes in children’s behavior

Too much screen time affects the behavior of children.

  • Children start getting angry quickly.
  • Don’t feel like studying.
  • Asks for mobile again and again.
  • Sleep timing gets disturbed.

Children of junior class are still in the initial stage of understanding. They need to be explained with love and patience, not scolding or strictness.

How to do right parenting during exam time?

1. Make a regular study time table

Prepare an easy and short time table for children. Study for 30-40 minutes and then take a break of 10 minutes. The child will not get bored with this.

2. Set mobile time

Taking away the mobile completely is not the right way. Rather, set a fixed time, like you are allowed to watch mobile or TV only for 30 minutes a day.

3. Sit together and teach

Leaving junior class children alone can distract them. If parents sit together for some time every day and teach, the child will pay more attention.

4. Make studies interesting

Studying can be made fun through stories, pictures, colorful charts and short questions and answers. With this the child will not consider studies as a burden.

5. Encourage, not pressure

If the child performs well, praise him. Giving praise even on small achievements boosts his self-confidence.
