Afghanistan Earthquake: Earthquake tremors have been felt once again in Afghanistan. There was a 5.5 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday (2 September) in the southeast part. This information has been given by Reuters to GFZ. The earthquake occurred after an earthquake with a 6.0 magnitude earthquake on Monday, killing at least 1400 people and more than 3,000 people were injured.

The earthquake already shook the area destroyed at least 24 hours ago, which led to fear among the people and affected relief work.

Relief and rescue work slowed down
“The injured people are being taken to a safe place, so the figures can move forward,” a spokesman of the National Disaster Management Authority of Afghanistan told AP. Officials said that the first earthquake landslide has blocked the main routes, due to which relief and emergency teams are not able to reach the affected areas on time.

PM Modi expressed grief

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the loss of life and property due to the disastrous earthquake in Afghanistan. Posting on the social media platform x, he shared his condolences to the bereaved families.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar talked

Foreign Minister S. Jayashankar also expressed concern over the disaster in Afghanistan and showed India’s solidarity and assured help. Jaishankar talked to Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Aamir Khan Mottaki over phone and expressed condolences on the loss in the earthquake that occurred on Sunday night. He wished the injured to get well soon and in this hour of grief, the talk of giving full support from India.

India has provided tents for 1,000 families in Kabul and the Indian mission has sent 15 tonnes of food items from Kabul to Kunar. Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry also confirmed the conversation between Jaishankar and Mottaki and Mottaki thanked India for helping Afghan citizens.

UN general secretary Antonio Guterres said this
The United Nations Human Rights Commissioner Volkar Turk expressed deep grief over the devastating earthquake in East Afghanistan. He wrote on X (East Twitter), ‘My condolences and solidarity with the people of Afghanistan after this devastating earthquake. This country is already facing many difficulties.

UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres said that UN teams in Afghanistan have been immediately activated and every effort will be made to help the needy people in the affected areas.
