Trump reciprocal tariff: US President Donald Trump has announced the imposition of reciperook tariffs on many countries of the world including India. He has imposed 27 percent on things imported from India to US, 34 percent on imports from China, 20 percent on imports from European Union, 25 percent on imports from South Korea, 24 percent on import goods from Japan, 32 percent tariff on imports from Taiwan.
These sectors saved from tariff
Trump’s tariff is going to affect many major sectors in India, including many sectors like automobile, jewelery, textile, electronics. Now the question comes that which are the sectors of India who have survived the tariff of Trump. Let’s take a look at them.
According to Think Tank GTRI, India’s 27 percent of the US counter -duty on India includes pharmaceuticals, semiconductor, copper and many energy products like oil, gas, coal and LNG. Trump says that India imposes 52 percent tariffs on us, while we will impose half a 27 percent tariff on them. Trump has kept the way of dialogue between the two countries by calling it a concessional tariff.
India gets new opportunities
On this, Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) says that India can strengthen its position in the sectors of the country who were excluded from 27 percent of the counter duty. However, to take advantage of Trump’s concessional tariff system, India will have to increase business easily, invest in logistics and infrastructure, keep the policy stable.
GTRI founder Ajay Srivastava said, “If these conditions are fulfilled, India will emerge as a global manufacturing and export hub in the coming years.” GTRI said that America has imposed high recipes on many Asian countries like China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand and Bangladesh. This has given India a chance to strengthen its position in global trade and manufacturing.
