The US Senate was postponed on Tuesday evening without passing any financial resolution, causing the government shutdown to be almost certain. There is no plan to meet the members of Parliament again till Wednesday and it missed the midnight deadline, which was fixed to continue the federal functioning.
Due to government shutdown, non-sessional operations will come to a standstill and millions of government employees will not get salary temporarily. Social security and other profit distribution can also be affected.
What will be affected?
- Essential Workers: Military employees, air traffic control and hospital employees will continue their duty, but the salary will not be available till the end of the shutdown.
- Non-Essential Employees: Will be sent to furls.
- Estimated number: According to the Congress Budget Office (CBO), about 7,50,000 Federal employees may face temporary furls.
What did President Trump say?
President Trump said that in the event of a shutdown, his administration can consider removing many federal employees permanently. However, non-administrative employees are usually sent to furls and they get the previous salary when the shutdown is over.
Who will continue the work?
According to the law, only the employees will continue to work when the funding stops. This includes work related to life and property safety.

A strong controversy between Republican and Democrats in the Senate
Earlier, the ruling Republican Party introduced a temporary funding bill in the Senate to provide funds to the Trump administration as a short -term measure. But after the late night debate, this proposal failed. There was a strong controversy between the Republican and the Democrats in the Senate. Eventually, the required 60 votes could not be collected to pass it in the 100-member Senate and the proposal fell by a margin of 55-45.
