America has approved a military package of $ 93 million for India, after which India will now be able to purchase a new batch of Javelin anti-tank missiles and Excalibur precision-guided artillery rounds. Under this approval, India will get 100 FGM-148 Javelin missiles, 25 light command launch units and 216 Excalibur artillery rounds.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has formally notified this proposal to the US Congress. The agency said that under this deal, India has also sought life cycle support, safety inspection, operator training, refurbishment of launch units and other technical assistance required for full operational capability.
America-India strategic partnership will get strengthened
DSCA said that this defense package will further strengthen the strategic partnership between America and India. This will increase India’s ability to counter current and future emerging threats. The statement also said that India will be able to include these weapons and equipment in its military structure without any problem.
America gave this approval
The US has also approved the sale of Excalibur guided artillery rounds worth about $47 million, bringing the total value to about $93 million. The agency clarified that this deal will not affect the regional military balance.
What did the US government say?
The US government also said that there is no information about any offset agreement in this deal yet and in future any such agreement can be decided between India and the arms manufacturers.
Let us tell you that the Javelin missile system jointly developed by RTX and Lockheed Martin gives the infantry the ability to conduct highly accurate attacks on armored targets from long ranges.
