Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Field Marshal Asim Munir and ISI chief Lt Gen Asim Malik were attended by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. In the meeting, this 10 -year strategy was agreed to maintain stability in Pakistan and ensure shared control in military political decisions.
According to sources, under this scheme, Nawaz Sharif’s house will be powerful of the government, while the strength of Asim Munir will increase further. Especially decisions on military appointments, ISI and other important security posts will be taken by political and military consent. This step is being considered a major change in the direction of Pakistan’s hybrid governance model.
The tenure can be followed by infinite Munir
The current term of Asim Munir is going to end in November this year, but the Pakistan Army Act 1952 is discussed to extend his tenure for five years under the amendments. If this applies, Aseem Munir can remain in power by 2030. Earlier, his predecessor Qamar Javed Bajwa was also expanded to tenure, which limited the political stature of the then Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Questions raised on the future of Imran Khan
The future of Imran Khan was also discussed in the meeting. According to sources, Nawaz, Shahbaz and Asim Munir have decided that Imran Khan will not be given any concession or political relief. Imran Khan, who is facing punishment in many cases and has been continuously accusing the army and Sharif family, will probably not be able to come out of jail.
With the implementation of this strategy, the centralization of power in Pakistan will be in the hands of the Sharif family and infinite Munir, which will work in a common direction and there will be a big change in the direction of ensuring political stability.
