On the invitation of US President Donald Trump, Pakistan Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif has reached Washington on an official visit to America. The main objective of this visit is to participate in the inaugural session of the Board of Peace to be held on 19 February 2026. This meeting is being organized to discuss issues related to international cooperation and peace. The thing to note is that the Prime Minister of Pakistan is on tour after the India-America trade deal. Let us tell you that America has reduced the tariff imposed on India from 25 to 18 percent, which is much less than all the Asian countries. Pakistan was very upset with this deal, because America still imposed a tariff of 19 percent on it.
However, if we talk about the current tour, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar is also present along with the Prime Minister. Along with him, other ministers and senior officials are also taking part in the delegation. This delegation will participate in various bilateral and multilateral meetings on behalf of Pakistan.
Will also meet leaders of other countries
During this visit, the Prime Minister will attend the inaugural session of the Board of Peace and will hold important meetings with the senior leadership of America. Apart from this, he will also meet the leaders of other countries participating in this meeting. Various areas of cooperation between Pakistan and America will be discussed in these meetings. Besides, issues related to peace, security and mutual interests at the global level will also be considered. This visit is being considered an important step towards further strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries. This is likely to promote economic, political and strategic cooperation.
Second tour of America
This is the second time after Donald Trump became President that Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is going to visit America. Earlier, 5 months ago in September, he had visited America with Pakistani Army Chief and Field Marshal Asim Munir, where he attended an important bilateral meeting. However, this time the situation is different. This visit has been called for a peace meeting in the board organized to establish peace in Gaza, for which many countries including Pakistan have shown support.
