Many days have passed since the murder of Sharif Usman Hadi, a famous leader associated with student politics in Bangladesh, but till now no concrete clue has been found about his killers. After being shot in broad daylight in Dhaka, this matter has become a topic of discussion in the entire country. The Detective Branch (DB) investigating the case has now admitted that the situation is still not clear regarding the location of the main accused.
According to BBC Bangla report, Detective Branch chief Mohammad Shafikul Islam spoke to the media. He said that the investigating agencies are making continuous efforts, but it has not been confirmed yet whether the main accused of this murder, Faisal Karim Masood and his close aide Alamgir Sheikh are present in Bangladesh or have fled to some other country. He also clarified that the claims of fleeing to India are definitely being discussed on social media, but there has been no official confirmation of it.
Some clues in the investigation, but the main accused is still out of reach
According to DB, the pistol used in the murder and the motorcycle used in the crime have been recovered. Apart from this, many suspects have also been detained and interrogated. Police say that based on the information received from the arrested people, the scope of investigation has been further expanded. Investigation has also revealed that the main accused has links with the banned Chhatra League, due to which this case is being linked to political violence.
13 arrested so far, family members also under investigation
The police have so far arrested 13 people in this sensational murder case. These also include close relatives and family members of Faisal Karim Masood. According to the investigating agencies, many phone calls were made before and after the murder, the records of which are being scrutinized. These arrested accused have been taken on remand and interrogated at different stages, so that the main conspiracy can be reached.
There was a ban on leaving the country, yet how did you disappear?
Dhaka Metropolitan Police has already clarified that the passports of the main accused were blocked, due to which they could not leave the country legally. Despite this, the police are not able to decide whether the accused have crossed the border through illegal routes or are still hiding somewhere inside the country.
How was Hadi attacked?
Sharif Osman Hadi was shot on a busy road in Dhaka on 12 December. When his condition became critical, he was sent to Singapore for better treatment, but he died during treatment on 18 December. He was later buried at the Dhaka University campus, where a large number of supporters and students were present.
Inquilab Manch’s strict message to the government
After Hadi’s assassination, Inquilab Manch warned the government that if the killers are not arrested soon, major political steps will be taken. The leaders of the forum have even demanded the resignation of top officials related to home affairs.
