BJP has made Ritu Tawde the mayoral candidate for the mayoral elections of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. On this, Shiv Sena-Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut made a big claim on Sunday (February 8).

Sanjay Raut said that due to the huge support of Marathi people to his party and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had to elect a Marathi person as the Mayor of Mumbai.

What did you say when Ritu Tawde was made the candidate?

Sanjay Raut, on BJP nominating Ritu Tawde (53) as its candidate for the post of Mumbai Mayor, said that she is originally from Congress. He claimed that BJP does not have any candidate of its own. The Rajya Sabha member said, “The way Marathi people voted for Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS with an overwhelming majority, BJP had to make a Marathi mayor in Mumbai.”

Ritu Tawde is all set to become the mayor of Mumbai and will become the ruling party’s first mayor in four decades after Shiv Sena (UBT) decided not to field any rival. With Ritu’s election unopposed, the Thackeray family’s 25-year dominance over BMC ended.

Sanjay Raut took a dig at RSS

While talking to journalists, Sanjay Raut also took a dig at Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Actor Salman Khan was seen talking to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at an event organized on the occasion of RSS centenary celebrations on Saturday (February 7).

The Rajya Sabha member asked, “Was it a welcome to film actor Salman Khan or (was it a message that) Muslims are also welcome in the Sangh and its branches?” He alleged that Bhagwat should give an explanation in this regard because the way propaganda inspired by Hindu-Muslim hatred and revenge is being spread, the Sangh is also involved in it.
