The matter of KKR removing Mustafizur Rahman on the instructions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is getting deeper. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had issued an official statement demanding to move its T20 World Cup 2026 matches out of India. Now according to a media report, ICC may approve Bangladesh’s demand to change the venue.
According to Cricbuzz, the International Cricket Council has not yet issued any statement, but ICC can get Bangladesh’s matches held in Sri Lanka. According to the current schedule, Bangladesh has to play its Group C matches on February 7, February 9, February 14 and February 17 in Kolkata and Mumbai. According to the report, a decision regarding the venue is possible within the next 2 days.
Earlier, a meeting of Bangladesh Cricket Board was held in Dhaka, in which it was decided that Bangladesh team will not go to India to play T20 World Cup matches.
In its statement, BCB had demanded that the World Cup matches be shifted out of India, describing the environment in India as unsafe for its players and officials. BCB also expressed hope that ICC will respond to this demand soon.
BCCI had taken a big decision
The reason behind this blasphemy of Bangladesh Cricket Board is Mustafizur Rahman. Rahman was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 9.20 crore in the IPL 2026 auction. But amidst deteriorating political relations between India and Bangladesh, KKR was heavily criticized for buying Mustafizur Rahman in the auction.
After that the Board of Control for Cricket in India had issued instructions to the KKR franchise to release Mustafizur Rahman. Kolkata franchise has released Rahman as per the instructions.
