Telecom operator Airtel has requested the government on the lines of Vodafone and Idea to convert his spectrum arrears into equity. This request has been made by Airtel at a time when the government has approved the proposal to convert Vodafone Idea, which is struggling with the financial crisis, to convert spectrum baqa of Rs 36,950 crore into equity. After which the partnership of the government in Vodafone Idea has now increased to 48.9 percent, which was earlier 22.6 percent.

An officer of the Telecom Department said that according to the condensers of the 2021 telecom correction package, all the telecom operators who took advantage of the government’s deferment are allowed to apply to convert their spater Baka into equity. In such a situation, now both operators Vodafone Idea and Airtel have done this, after which it will be considered.

According to the news of Business Standard, in September of 2021, the government has given four years on the annual Bhugdan of the dues on the basis of the Supreme Court’s 2019 decision on adjusted gross revenue.

Under the previous Nilamis, the government also postponed the annual payment of the dues fixed for the spectrum purchased for four years. In such a situation, it is important that the Central Government gave an option to the telecom companies, which is struggling with the current finance crisis, to convert a portion of the arrears into equity."Text-Align: justify;"> Reliance Jio, headed by Telecom Market leading Mukesh Ambani, did not take advantage of this proposal as his AGR was outstanding outstanding and spectrum purchases under the auction.
