BCCI has made changes in the Indian squad for the T20 series against New Zealand. Shreyas Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi have returned to the T20 team after a long time. There is bad news for all-rounder Washington Sundar, who was injured during the ODI series, because he will not be available for all 5 matches of the series due to injury. The T20 series between India and New Zealand will be played from January 21-January 31.
Shreyas Iyer has got a place in Team India for the first three T20 matches, he has been brought into the team as a replacement for Tilak Verma. It is expected that Tilak Verma can make a comeback in the fourth T20. On the other hand, injured Washington Sundar has been replaced by Ravi Bishnoi. The injuries of Tilak Verma and Washington Sundar are a matter of great concern for Team India, because there is less than a time left for the start of the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Shreyas Iyer has returned to the T20 team for the first time since December 2023. He last played a T20 match for India against Australia. In IPL 2025, Shreyas Iyer scored 604 runs while batting strongly. He played at a stormy strike rate of 175 in the entire season.
On the other hand, Ravi Bishnoi played the last T20 match for India in January 2025 against England. He has taken 61 wickets in 42 T20 matches so far.
