Gill became the youngest player to win a Test match as an Indian captain abroad. Gill did this feat at the age of only 25 years 301 days. Gill broke the 49 -year -old record of Gavaskar. Gavaskar set this record by winning Auckland against New Zealand at 26 years 202 days in 1976.
