Why did BCCI decide Gill’s captaincy?

Agarkar had said that whether Rohit will play 2027 ODI World Cup or not, there is no confirmed about this. At the same time, Team India has to play less in the ODI match in the next two years, then the team will not get much matches before the World Cup. For this reason, Shubman Gill has been made the captain, so that he can be fully prepared to take decisions.
The Indian team reached the final of the 2023 World Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. After this, India won the 2024 T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and after that also captured the Champions Trophy 2025.
