Indian captain Shubman Gill has been admitted to the hospital in Kolkata, due to which there is doubt about his return in the first test and playing in the second test. Gill suffered a neck strain while batting on the second day of the Kolkata Test, after which he was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Shubman Gill came to bat in the 35th over of the Indian innings. He suffered a neck strain while attempting a sweep shot off Simon Harmer. He was examined on the field for some time, but he retired out after scoring 4 runs and went out of the field.

According to news agency PTI, Gill was taken out of the field on a stretcher and a strap was tied around his neck. Another report revealed that Gill was admitted to Woodland Hospital and may remain under the observation of doctors overnight.

After Gill left the field, BCCI had given an update saying that he was suffering from neck strain. On the other hand, Team India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel said that Shubman Gill started having this problem even before coming on the field to bat.

The last few weeks have been very busy for Shubman Gill. He came to Kolkata the very next day after the Australia tour ended. Last Tuesday, he started practicing for the Test series against South Africa. Morne Morkel also stressed that Gill takes great care of his fitness, so it is possible that this may have happened due to sleeping on the wrong side.

Let us tell you that by the end of the second day’s play in the Kolkata Test, South Africa had scored 93 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in the second innings.
