A day earlier on Wednesday (10 December 2025), the Election Commission issued an important instruction under the ongoing SIR process in all 12 states and union territories. ECI has ordered the Chief Electoral Officers of the respective States and Union Territories to share the list of absentee, transferred, dead or repeated voters (ASD) prepared at the booth level with the booth level agents of political parties.

The Election Commission said that those voters who could not be contacted even after three or more door-to-door contacts by the booth level officials, have been kept in the ASD category. Now it is necessary to confirm the status of these voters, so that the mistakes can be corrected before the voter list is released.

For this, booth level officers at every booth will meet booth level agents appointed by political parties and the complete ASD list will be handed over to them. According to the Election Commission, approximately 5 lakh booth level officers and more than 12 lakh booth level agents will participate in the booth-wise meetings in these 12 states and union territories.
