Foods That Cause Premature Aging: If you think that skin aging happens only due to age or wrong skincare, then this is not the whole truth. In an Instagram video, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Pooja Reddy talks about the root causes of many skin-related problems. He says that there are some everyday foods which damage collagen from inside, increase inflammation in the skin and also have a bad effect on the liver. Share on social media In her video, Dr. Reddy says that there are three worst foods for the skin, and the third is something that you probably eat every day. Let us tell you about them.
High Fructose Corn Syrup
According to Dr. Reddy, she does not even consider it as food. It is found in soda, packaged juices, biscuits, sauces and most junk foods. This is not real sugar, but a synthetic sweetener, which causes more damage to the skin proteins than normal glucose. They say that it creates AGEs in the body, which break down collagen. The result is that the skin becomes hard, wrinkles appear quickly and the liver also gets affected.
repeatedly heated refined oil
She gives the example of how oil heated repeatedly for several days at a samosa shop is harmful. By repeatedly heating the oil, its Vitamin E gets destroyed and oxidized fats remain in it. These fats increase inflammation inside the body, the effect of which is directly visible on the skin.
More fried and crunchy foods
The more golden and crispy the foods like French fries, pakodas, chips are, the more harmful compounds are formed in them. Dr. Reddy says that the darker the color and the more crunchiness, the more AGEs you are eating. Your cream cannot fix the damage that your diet is doing.
What are AGEs and why are they dangerous?
According to Healthline, they are formed when sugar in the blood combines with protein or fat. Additionally, foods cooked at high temperatures, such as frying, grilling or toasting, also increase AGEs. Although there is a process to expel them from the body, they start accumulating when consumed in excess. This increases oxidative stress and inflammation. In the long run, it has also been linked to diabetes, heart disease, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s and premature aging.
