The impact of climate on sleep: According to a research, our way of sleeping changes a lot according to the week, weather and place. Scientists at Flinders University in South Australia did this research. In this, data for more than 1 lakh 16 thousand adults and more than 73 million gold nights was taken. According to the Xinhua news agency report, the team used an under-matress device to impartly track the duration and time in 3.5 years. That is, the researchers measured their sleeping time and duration from a special tool for more than three years.
Human effect of weather in humans’ sleep
Research found that our sleep changes not only by our habits, but also due to daylight, temperature and a week -like routine. Hannah Scott, an expert on sleep related matters of Flinders University, said that the weather also has a big impact in the sleep of humans. People’s sleeping time is related to their age, terrain and geographical location.
For example, in the Northern Hemisphere (eg Europe, America) people sleep 15–20 minutes more in winter, while in the Southern Hemisphere (like Australia) people sleep less in summer.
What happened in sleep research?
Scott said that those who stay away from the equator, their sleep is seen more changes according to the weather. Apart from this, people sleep late on the weekend (Saturday-Sunday) and try to complete their sleep for a long time, especially those of the middle-aged people who make balance between work and family.
According to research published in Sleep, these irregular patterns are rapidly associated with negative health effects. That is, such irregular sleep can have a bad effect on health. Research found that sleep is gradually declining. Every year the average sleep of people has decreased by about 2.5 minutes from 2020 to 2023 and probably the reason for the Kovid-19 epidemic.
Health can become a threat to health
Danny Acurt of Flinders University said that irregular sleep can become a threat not only to fatigue, but also to health. Therefore, we need to understand how our environment and routine affect our sleep, so that it can be improved.
Although this research was done on those who use the technology more, yet it shows that it is necessary to keep the weather and time in mind for better sleep.
