According to the New York Times, when the police reached Stephanie’s apartment for investigation on the evening of November 23, only her ex-boyfriend Patrick and his dog were present there. During that time, Patrick told the police that he was staying here to take care of Pepper’s dog. The police also found blood marks on the door frame of the house. However, the police did not have any suspicion on Patrick.

The arrest in this entire case took place when a day later, the accused was found burning a car near a casino near the Slovenian Spielfeld border. Police claim that he was trying to hide evidence. Officials reached the spot and took possession of the car and handed it over to Australian authorities.
