Mohammed Shami, veteran fast bowler of the Indian cricket team, is running out of Team India these days. After the retirement of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravichandran Ashwin, discussions about Shami’s future in the cricket corridors had intensified. Many times questions have been raised on social media whether 34 -year -old Shami is also going to say goodbye to international cricket, but Shami herself has given a big statement about these rumors.

Shami’s blunt statement

In an interview, Shami clearly said that he has no intention of taking retirement right now. He lashed out at the news of retirement and said, “If someone has any problem with me, tell me. Will my life be better by taking my retirement? In whose life I have become a stone, those who want me to leave cricket? I will feel that the day I do not mind, I will retire without any pressure.”

“Don’t select, but I will keep playing”

On being out of the Indian team on many big occasions, Shami said that whether he gets a place in the Indian team or not, he will continue to play his play. He said, “Don’t select me in the international team, but I will keep working hard. Whether domestic cricket or elsewhere, I will keep playing on the field.”

Dream of winning World Cup

Shami also said that a big dream of him is still incomplete and that is to win the ODI Cup for India. He said, “We had come very close to victory in the 2023 World Cup, but we could not win. Now my entire focus is on the 2027 World Cup. I want to play till then and get the team the title.”

Are working hard on fitness

After being out of the England Test Series and Asia Cup team, Shami is also working on his fitness. He told that he has worked hard in the last two months, especially on weight loss and long spell bowling. He told, “My love for cricket is still intact. The day my passion will be less, I will retire myself. Till then I will keep playing with full force.”

Search for rhythm in IPL 2025

Shami last played international cricket in March 2025. After this, he did not get a chance in the Indian team. In IPL 2025 too, he was seen struggling to get balance while bowling. Despite this, Shami believes that his career is not over yet and he will return from his performance.
