Sourav Ganguly Warns Shubman Gill: The historic beginning of Shubman Gill’s Test captaincy may have raised new hope in Indian cricket, but Sourav Ganguly believes that the challenges have just started. Ganguly while talking to reporters at Eden Gardens during his birthday celebration said, “I have seen Gill batting the best so far and I am not surprised by it.”
Let me tell you that Gill has scored 585 runs in his first series as captain at an average of 146.25 including three centuries in two Tests, one of which includes a double century.

With the help of his 269 and 161 runs in Birmingham, he set a record of the highest match score made by an Indian batsman and now he is just 18 runs away from Rahul Dravid’s record of 602 runs on the 2002 tour of England, which is just 18 runs away, which is the highest run by an Indian in the Test series on England land.
Despite Gill’s brilliant performance, Ganguly warned that the path ahead is not going to be easy. He said, “He has become captain right now, it is a honeymoon period, but over time he will increase further pressure. This pressure will increase further in the next three Tests.”
