
South Africa created history by defeating Australia in the final of the World Test Championship. South Africa chased 282 runs during this period. This is the biggest score to be chased in the finals of any ICC tournament. During this time, South Africa has broken India’s 14 -year -old record.

In the final, South Africa decided to bowl first. After this, Australia’s first innings was reduced to 212 runs. At the same time, South Africa was able to score only 138 runs in the first innings. In this way, Australia had a lead of 74 runs in the first innings.

Australia then scored 207 runs in their second innings. Australia gave South Africa a target of 282 runs. Which South Africa achieved till the first session of the fourth day. South Africa won the match by 5 wickets.

Aden Markram, the hero of South Africa’s victory. Markram scored a brilliant century in the final. Markram played an innings of 136 runs. Markram hit 14 fours in this innings.

South African captain Tamba Bawuma also scored a brilliant 66 runs while chasing. Bawuma played a century partnership with Markram. Due to which South Africa chased the biggest score in the ICC final.

Earlier, the Indian team had the record for the biggest run chase in the ICC final. India had chased 275 runs against Sri Lanka in the ODI World Cup in 2011. This record was persisted for 14 years. Which was broken by Africa.
