The second and last Test of the series between India and South Africa is starting from November 22 in Guwahati. South Africa has included fast bowler Lungi Ngidi in the team for the Guwahati Test.
Lungi Ngidi has been included by South Africa as cover for fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. Rabada is injured. Due to injury, he could not play in the first Test played in Kolkata. There is doubt over his playing in the second test also. For this reason, Cricket South Africa has included Lungi Ngidi in the team for the second test. If Rabada is not fit, Ngidi can play. Rabada is suffering from rib injury.
Ngidi’s return will strengthen South Africa’s fast bowling attack. He was struggling with injuries for some time, but the team management has included him in the squad after full fitness. 29 year old right arm fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has taken 58 wickets in 20 test matches. Ngidi played his last Test against Australia in June 2025.
South Africa has taken a 0-1 lead in the series by defeating the Indian team by 30 runs in a low scoring match played in Kolkata. The African team has a chance to win the series. If South Africa wins or manages to draw the second Test starting from 22nd November, then the series will be in its name. South Africa has not won a Test series in India since 1999-2000.
For the first time, the men’s team test is being organized in Guwahati. In such a situation, both the teams will be doubtful about the pitch. Despite being local, the Indian team does not have experience of the pitch, hence the Guwahati Test is expected to be exciting.
