South Korea PM HAN DUCK-SOO: A constitutional court in South Korea rejected the impeachment on Prime Minister Han Duck-Suk on Monday (March 24). The court, while giving this verdict, also restored the Prime Minister as the acting President of South Korea. Prime Minister Han Duck-In December last year, the acting president was appointed as the President after the President was suspended to implement martial law in the country.

However, a few weeks after the Prime Minister became a caretaker President, in December 2024, South Korea MPs imagined him for a short-lived suspension of the civil legal process.

Constitutional court dismisses impeachment by 7-1 votes

According to a report by news agency Yonhap, the constitutional court of 8 judges of South Korea rejected the impeachment of Prime Minister Han Duck-Superstition by 7-1 votes. Two of these judges voted to completely dismiss the proposal of impeachment.

Constructed by two weeks for time

According to the report by Reuters, Prime Minister Han Duck-Su took over as the acting President of the country for less than two weeks. On 27 December, the Prime Minister denied the appointment of 3 more judges in the Constitutional Court. After which he was suspended after a confrontation with the opposition -led Parliament.

The Parliament had imagined the role of the Prime Minister in the martial law in the country as well as to refuse the appointment of additional judges in the constitutional court and to support the Special Counsel Bill, which targets former President Union Suk Yol and first woman Kim Kyon.

At the same time, Finance Minister Choi Sang-Mok was appointed on the caretaker President due to the issue of impeachment of Union Suk Yol and Han Duck-Suk in the Constitutional Court.
