Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak alleged in the Assembly on Monday that before 2017, the Samajwadi Party (SP) government had converted hospitals into stables. Brajesh Pathak said, “No policy was brought by the state government to make the rates of consultation fees and various medical tests etc. of private doctors in the state uniform and to stop their arbitrary increase.”
From 2012 to 2017, there was a government in the state led by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Deputy Chief Minister Pathak, who is handling the health and medical department in the state government, was answering the questions of SP members Samarpal Singh and Akhilesh during the question hour of the assembly. SP member Samarpal Singh alleged that the health system of the state has fallen into disrepair and government doctors extort money from patients by treating them at their homes. He pointed out the lack of medical facilities in hospitals.
Deputy CM replied to SP MLA Akhilesh Yadav
SP MLA Akhilesh Yadav from Mubarakpur area of Azamgarh district alleged that patients do not get facilities in hospitals and huge fees are charged in private hospitals. Akhilesh asked in his supplementary question whether the government would make any rules for uniform fees for private hospitals. Brajesh Pathak, replying to Akhilesh, said that medical examination, treatment and medicines are given free of cost in all government hospitals. He gave details of the facilities available in primary health centers, community health centers and district hospitals to government hospitals with high level facilities.
Ayushman card holders are getting benefits
Deputy CM said that free treatment facilities are being provided to the general public in various hospitals established by the state government. He said that under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushman card holders are given free treatment up to the limit of Rs 5 lakh as per the prescribed package in government and private hospitals and senior citizens above 70 years of age are provided medical benefits under Ayushman Vaya Vandan Yojana.
