Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s film ‘The Bengal Files’ has been released in theaters across the country, but it has not been banned in West Bengal but it has not been displayed in the cinema houses. Meanwhile, a special screening of the film was held in some areas of Bengal. Where the audience shared their reactions after watching it. Meanwhile, political controversy over the film is also deepening.
Ashok Dinda targeted TMC
Former Team India cricketer and BJP MLA Ashok Dinda targeted the TMC government over the ban on the film. He said, “Mamata Banerjee wants to hide the history of Bengal. The truth of ‘Direct Action Day’ is shown in this film. If the people of Bengal will see it, Hindus can unite in the West Bengal assembly elections of 2026. That is why the film is not being allowed to run here. Most of the leaders and ministers of TMC were the goons of CPM time in the past. Today the same people are in power.”
Did the former Governor of Tripura say?
At the same time, former Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy also expressed his opinion on this issue. He said, “Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been engaged in appeasement of Muslim votes for a long time. She is afraid that if the Hindu community, who is majority in the state, will watch this film, then her votes may go against TMC.” Roy alleged that the government has tried to disrupt the screening by sending unemployed youth.
The film shows the truth – former governor
He said, “The film shows the truth of East Bengal and East Pakistan, which is not accepted by the Chief Minister. Therefore, every possible effort is being made to stop it.” When Roy was asked whether ‘The Bengal Files’ is a propaganda film, he replied, “The facts shown in it are not wrong. No one is saying that there is a lie in the film.”
BJP MP also held opinion on the film
BJP MP Suvendu Adhikari said, “The situation here has become such that the Bengal files are not being released in a single cinema hall in Bengal, but this film is going on in the whole country. The situation of Bengal is such that everyone has to come and watch Bengal files. No one should intervene on the art. But the situation in Bengal is such that this film is not being allowed to run here.
