In the mini auction of IPL 2026, bids worth crores were made on many such players, for whom no one would have expected that they would be sold for a very high amount. Sri Lankan batsman Pathum Nissanka has been rewarded for his good form, who has been bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 4 crore. This will be the first time that Nissanka will play a match in IPL.
West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder will be returning to the IPL after two years, having last played for Rajasthan Royals in 2023. Holder was bought by Gujarat Titans in mini auction for Rs 7 crore. Meanwhile, the stormy batsman Matthew Short has been bought by Chennai Super Kings for his base price of Rs 1.50 crore.
Talking about Pathum Nissanka, he first performed well in the T20 Tri-Series and then also showed his talent with the bat in the International T20 League. Before Nissanka, in the same auction, his compatriot player Mathisha Pathirana was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 18 crore.
On the other hand, there was a race for Jason Holder between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. CSK pulled out after going for Rs 6.80 crores, finally Gujarat included Holder in their squad for Rs 7 crores.
Matthew Short was a part of the Punjab Kings squad in 2023, in which he played 6 matches and scored 117 runs. Like Holder, he too will be returning to IPL after two years. No other team bid for Short. Chennai Super Kings bought him for his base price of Rs 1.5 crore.
