The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) arrested two Nigerians and a Brazilian citizen from the international border on Saturday (September 13, 2025). Officials informed that these foreign nationals are suspected of fleeing jails during recent anti -government protests in Nepal.

Officials said that the paramilitary forces and the state police, protecting the Indo-Nepal international border, have so far caught more than 75 people from different places on this 1,751 km-long border. These include two citizens of Nigeria, a Brazilian citizen, a Bangladeshi citizen and some Indians.

Foreign nationals caught from Bihar, UP, Uttarakhand and West Bengal

According to officials, these people have been caught in the last three-four days after fleeing various jails during large-scale anti-government protests in the neighboring country Nepal. Officials said that about 43 of these people have been caught from Bihar, 22 from Uttar Pradesh, eight from Uttarakhand and two from West Bengal.

He said that Nigerian and Brazilian citizens were caught on Friday (September 12, 2025) from the region (Jayanagar) of Bihar, while the Bangladeshi citizen was caught a few days ago from Bihar. The Indo-Nepal border is spread over 20 districts of five states.

SSB Helpline number released for Indians trapped in Nepal

SSB has issued three emergency helpline numbers to assist Indians trapped in Nepal. Apart from helpline numbers 1903 in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Uttarakhand, two other helpline numbers 0522-2728816 and 0522-298657 are also available.

Announcement of dates for next parliamentary election in Nepal

The next parliamentary elections in Nepal will be held on March 5, 2026. The office of President Ramchandra Paudel made this announcement on Saturday (September 13, 2025). This announcement has been made after a week -long violent protests, due to which K.K. P. Sharma Oli had to resign from the post of Prime Minister and Sushila Karki became the Prime Minister of Nepal’s interim government. Along with this, Sushila Karki became the first woman Prime Minister of Nepal.

At the same time, Nepal Police had said on Friday (September 12, 2025) that at least 51 people, including an Indian woman, died during the protest.
