Stalin asked for Rs 2100 crore from PM Modi, who reached Tamil Nadu on a two -day visit, know what is the whole matter?

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has expressed his commitment to the two-language policy and appealed to the Center to issue a fund of more than Rs 2,100 crore of the state under the overall education scheme.

According to an official release issued on Sunday (July 27, 2025), in a memorandum submitted by the State Finance Minister Thangam Thenarasu to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, Stalin said that Tamil Nadu has clarified his contradictory views on the National Education Policy (NEP) -2020’s three-language formula.

Stalin persisted on Tamil and English formula

The state government has made it clear that it will stand on its decades-old two-language formula in Tamil and English. The Chief Minister has said in the memorandum that the future of millions of students is affected by not getting the necessary funds from the Center.

The press release said, “The Chief Minister has requested the Prime Minister to release the center of Rs 2,151.59 crore for the year 2024-25 and the first installment of 2025-26,”

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is hospitalized

Chief Minister Stalin was admitted to a private hospital after complaining of dizziness on 21 July and is undergoing treatment there. According to official sources, the memorandum sanctioned by him was submitted to the Prime Minister on Saturday. The Prime Minister is on a two -day visit to Tamil Nadu.

Demand to take steps for the release of fishermen

The Chief Minister also appealed to approval Coimbatore and Madurai metro rail projects along with other demands, which are proposed to implement the equal stake of the Center and the state. Other demands include the implementation of several railway projects and an increase in suburban rail services in Chennai.

Apart from this, Chief Minister Stalin raised the issue of repeated arrest of fishermen of the state and demanded a permanent solution to this problem. He has demanded to take steps for the release of Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody.
