Recently we had a conversation with Appurv Gupta, in which he told that the attention span of today’s audience is decreasing, but Appurv believes that only hooks do not work, only honesty and relatability creates a long-term fan base.
Along with this, Appurv also told that stand-up comedy is an escape for him, no matter how low the phase in life is, as soon as he goes on stage, his mind gets reset and he feels better.
Talking about the chapter of ‘Soorahi Love, Laughter and Shaadi’, Appurv says that ‘What I liked best about working on this project was that nothing was forced, the ideas came from the same things we all do at weddings, and the humor was a hit because it was not trying to sell a punchline, it was just capturing what really happens when families are together.’
Along with this, he described crowd work as a different art form of stand-up, which is quite risky because not every joke lands.
Appurv also shared a funny real incident, in which a man made a girlfriend on LinkedIn,
Along with this, Appurv does not consider comedy as a short race, it is a long race, the best strategy is to play your game slow and steady.
Along with this, he also praised comedians like Zakir Khan, Abhishek Upmanyu among the best comedians.
