Mumbai vs Punjab VHT 2025-26: Punjab got a thrilling 1 run victory over Mumbai in Vijay Hazare Trophy. The team equipped with big stars like Sarfaraz Khan, Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dubey could not achieve the target of 217 runs. In this match played in Jaipur, Punjab under the captaincy of Abhishek Sharma was reduced to 216 runs. In reply, Mumbai team was all out for 215 runs.
Punjab team had scored 216 runs while playing first. Captain Abhishek Sharma could score only 8 runs, while IPL star player Prabhsimran Singh also could not do any wonders and was out after scoring 11 runs. Anmolpreet Singh scored 57 runs and Ramandeep Singh played a half-century innings of 72 runs, somehow helping the Punjab team cross 200.
217 runs not chased by Mumbai
Mumbai’s innings was started by Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Musheer Khan. Musheer scored 21 runs and Raghuvanshi scored 23 runs. Sarfaraz Khan, on the other hand, wreaked havoc on the Punjab bowlers and completed his half-century in just 15 balls. With this, Sarfaraz has also become the batsman to score the fastest fifty in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy. He played an inning of 62 runs in 20 balls, in which 7 fours and 5 sixes came from his bat.
big stars did not go
Captain Shreyas Iyer was coming after playing a strong inning of 82 runs in the last match. This time too he got a good start, but was out after scoring 45 runs in 34 balls. On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dubey were also playing in this match, but proved to be a complete flop. Suryakumar was out after scoring 15 runs and Dubey was out after scoring only 12 runs.
Half the team was reduced to 14 runs
At one time Mumbai team had scored 201 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. There were more than 27 overs left and Mumbai had to score only 16 more runs to win. From here, Punjab bowlers wreaked such havoc that within the next 14 runs, half the Mumbai team was eliminated. As a result, Mumbai’s innings was reduced to 215 runs and the team lost the match by one run.
