Perth Scorchers have won the title of Big Bash League 2025-2026. This team, captained by Ashton Turner, defeated Sydney Sixers by 6 wickets in the title match. This is Scorchers’ sixth BBL title. Jhay Richardson and David Payne took 3-3 wickets for Scorchers in the title match. Chasing the target, Mitchell Marsh (44) and Finn Allen (36) gave a great start to the team by making a partnership of 80 runs for the first wicket.

Batting first in the final match of the Big Bash League played on Sunday, Sydney Sixers were all out for 132 runs. Steve Smith, Josh Philip and captain Moises Henriques scored 24-24 runs. Perth Scorchers made a brilliant comeback in the last 10 overs. After 14 overs, the score of Sydney Sixers was 94 runs for 3 wickets. It seemed that the score would comfortably reach 160, but due to continuous fall of wickets the team was limited to 132.

For Perth Scorchers, Jhye Richardson took 3 wickets for 32 runs in 4 overs. The same number of wickets were taken by David Payne, who gave only 18 runs in his spell of 4 overs.

Chasing the small target of 133 runs, Mitchell Marsh and Finn Allen made a bright start, both making a partnership of 80 runs for the first wicket. Allen scored 36 runs in 22 balls, in which he hit 1 six and 4 fours. Allen was dismissed by Mitchell Starc, but perhaps it was too late. Aaron Hardy (5) and Ashton Turner (2), who came at number three, lost their wickets cheaply, although when Marsh was out, Perth came very close to victory. Marsh scored 44 runs in 43 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 4 fours.

Ashton Turner created history

This is Perth Scorchers’ sixth Big Bash League title, the most by any team. Although no other team has ever won even 4 titles, Sydney Sixers is at second place with 3 titles. Ashton Turner has become the first captain in the history of the league to become champion 3 times.
