Stock Market Today: The beginning of the third trading session of the week in the Indian stock market on Wednesday, January 21, was negative. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened trading in the red.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened at 81,794.65 points, down 385.82 points or 0.47 percent, while the NSE Nifty 50 opened at 25,141.00, down 91.50 points or 0.36 percent. However, after the initial decline, improvement was seen in both the indexes. But soon after this they started trading again at the red mark.
By around 9:20 am, the Sensex was trading at 82,055 points, down by 124 points. Whereas Nifty 50 was trading at the level of 25,213 after slipping 18 points.

How was the market on Tuesday?
On Tuesday, January 20, there was a huge decline in the Indian stock market and both the major benchmark indices closed trading in the red. Sensex fell by 1065.71 points or 1.28 percent to 82,180.47 points, while NSE Nifty 50 slipped by 353.00 points or 1.38 percent and ended the trading day at 25,232.50.
HDFC Bank was the top gainer from BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, Eternal, Bajaj Finance, Sun Pharma, Indigo and Trent were. There was a decline in the shares of Nifty Midcap 100, Nifty 100, Nifty Bank, Nifty IT, Nifty Smallcap 100, Nifty Auto and Nifty FMCG. On Tuesday’s trading day, only 1 share from the BSE basket closed in the green and 29 shares recorded a decline.
