Stock Market Today: The last trading session of the week in the Indian stock market on Friday, January 23, had a flat start to the trading day. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened trading in the green.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened at 82,335.94 with a rise of 28.57 points or 0.03 per cent, while the NSE Nifty 50 opened at 25,344.60 with a rise of 54.70 points or 0.22 per cent. However, as soon as the market opened, there were ups and downs.
By around 9:28 am, the Sensex was trading at 82,424 points, up 116 points. Whereas Nifty 50 jumped 42 points and was trading at the level of 25,332.

How was the market on Thursday?
On Thursday, January 22, there was a rise in the Indian stock market and both the major benchmark indices closed trading in the green. Sensex rose by 397.74 points or 0.49 percent to 82,307.37 points, while NSE Nifty 50 jumped by 132.40 points or 0.53 percent to end the trading day at 25,289.90.
Tata Steel, Adani Port, SBIN, Bajaj Finserv and PowerGrid were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, there were Eternal, Titan, ICICI Bank and Reliance. There was a rise in the shares of Nifty Midcap 100, Nifty 100, Nifty Bank, Nifty IT, Nifty Smallcap 100, Nifty Auto and Nifty FMCG.
On Thursday’s trading day, 24 shares from BSE basket closed in the green and 6 shares registered a decline.
