Stock market holiday: There will be no trading in the Indian stock market today. On Friday, August 15, 2025, Indian equity and commodity markets will remain closed on the occasion of 78th Independence Day of the country. Due to this, there will be no business in all these segments on both equity, derivatives and securities lending and SLB (Securities Landing-Bauraing) on both Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE). Now the business will be on Monday, August 18, 2025. This is a scheduled holiday, that is, every year on August 15, the stock market is closed because today is a national holiday. In such a situation, there will be no activity in any segment.
All day holiday in commodity trading
Along with the stock market, other commodity trading platforms will also be closed. The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will not work in its morning and evening sessions i.e. there will be no business in bullion, base metal, energy contracts or other commodities. India’s largest Agri-Commodity Platform, National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will also be completely closed. This means that there will be no business in agricultural products like oilseeds, pulses, grains and spices.
Due to no trading in the equity and commodity segment on August 15, there will be a focus of investors on global signals and economic development during this long weekend, which can be helpful in fixing its direction when the market opens.
