Stock Market Today: The second trading session of the week in the Indian stock market on Tuesday, January 6, had a negative start to the trading day. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened trading in the red.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened at 85,331.14 points, down 108.48 points or 0.13 percent, while the NSE Nifty 50 opened at 26,189.70, down 60.60 points or 0.23 percent.
By around 9:25 am, the Sensex was trading at 85,128 points, down by 311 points. Whereas Nifty 50 was trading at the level of 26,190 after slipping 59 points.

How was the market on Monday?
On Monday, January 5, there was a huge decline in the Indian stock market and both the major benchmark indices closed trading in the red. Sensex fell by 322.39 points or 0.38 percent to 85,439.62 points, while NSE Nifty 50 slipped by 78.25 points or 0.30 percent and ended the trading day at 26,250.30.
Tata Steel, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paint and Axis Bank were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, HDFC Bank, HCL Tech, Bajaj Finance and TCS were. There was a decline in the shares of Nifty IT, Nifty 100, Nifty Midcap, Nifty Bank.
A rise was recorded in the shares of Nifty FMCG, Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Auto. On Monday’s trading day, 15 shares from BSE basket closed on the green mark and 15 shares recorded a decline.
