Vaibhav Suryavanshi was a 12 year old boy who made his domestic debut for Bihar. By the age of 14, he had made a splash in IPL and Indian domestic cricket. These days Vaibhav is representing Team India in the Under-19 World Cup. Has scored 3 centuries in T20 career of only 18 matches.
Vaibhav has been giving a stormy start to whichever team he plays for. His strike rate in T20 cricket is 204.37, while in his List-A career so far he has scored runs at a strike rate of around 165. He has created havoc especially in white ball cricket. The demand for bringing him into Team India has started rising, but the question is whether Vaibhav can play for Team India now? If yes, when will he be able to debut? Here you will get the answer to this question.
When will you be able to debut?
Before the year 2020, there was no age rule for making international cricket debut. But in 2020, ICC implemented such a rule that to debut in international cricket, a player must be at least 15 years of age.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born on March 27, 2011 and his age is 14 years 297 days. After 68 days, his age will be 15 years, after which he will become eligible to play international cricket under ICC rules. His average in List A cricket is 44.12, while in T20 matches so far he has scored runs at an average of 41.23.
What can be the selection in Team India?
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has especially left his mark in white ball cricket. Talking about T20 format, it is possible that Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson will play the role of opening batting for some time. Whereas at number-3, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma keep moving forward and backward. To be clear, there is no vacancy in the top order of the T20 team. Same is the situation with the ODI team. Therefore, even if Vaibhav Suryavanshi gets selected in the Indian squad, he may not get a chance in the playing eleven for some time.
