Strong tremors of a powerful earthquake were felt in Bangladesh on Friday morning (21 November 2025). The intensity of the earthquake has been measured at 5.7 on the Richter scale. According to local media reports, at least 6 people died and dozens were injured. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Ghorashal area of Narsingdi district, about 25 kilometers from Dhaka. This shock spread panic among the people not only in Bangladesh but also in many parts of India.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was felt at 10:38 am. Its depth was 10 kilometers below. Earthquakes of such shallow depth can often cause greater damage, the effect of which was clearly visible in Dhaka.
Damage to buildings in Dhaka
According to the information of local channel DBC, 3 people died when part of the wall and roof of a building collapsed. Three pedestrians were crushed to death when the railing of the bridge broke. Many other people were injured at different places. The tremors, which were felt for several seconds, created chaos in the entire city. People came out of their homes, offices and shops and gathered on the streets.
