Foreign Portfolio Investors Inflow: For a long time, a period of continuous selling by foreign investors was being seen in the Indian stock market. For the last three months, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have withdrawn money from the market. Due to which the concern of investors had increased. However, changes are being seen in this trade in the early days of February.
During this period, foreign portfolio investors have invested more than Rs 8,100 crore in the first week of the month itself. According to experts, this change has been seen in the market due to better environment and positive expectations related to trade deal with America. Let us know in this regard…
What do the figures say?
Foreign investors have stayed away from the Indian stock market in recent months. Talking about the figures, in January 2026, FPI had booked profits of about Rs 35,962 crore. Due to which pressure was seen on the market. Earlier, Rs 22,611 crore was withdrawn in December 2025 and Rs 3,765 crore was withdrawn in November.
If we talk about the entire year 2025, during this period foreign portfolio investors had withdrawn about Rs 1.66 lakh crore ($18.9 billion) from the equity market. However, challenging times were said to be the reason for this evacuation.
During this period, there was concern about rupee fluctuations, increasing tension in global trade, and possible US tariffs. Besides, high valuation of shares was also considered to be the reason for this.
Positive change in investors’ perception
According to experts who have understanding of the subject, in recent times the market environment has started looking better than before. There has been a reduction in uncertainty at the global level. At the same time, expectations regarding domestic interest rates also remain stable.
Apart from this, increasing confidence regarding trade and policy related activities between India and America is also strengthening the enthusiasm of investors. Due to which foreign investors are once again returning to the Indian market.
