In order to go viral on social media, many people ignore their own and others’ safety. One such case has come to light from Bengaluru, where a student was seen making noise and doing stunts on the roads by installing a modified silencer in his car. Not only was a loud sound coming out of the exhaust of this car, but flames were also visible. Bengaluru Traffic Police took strict action against this act and imposed a heavy fine of Rs 1.11 lakh and confiscated the car.
Police took immediate action
- In the video shared by Bengaluru City Traffic Police, it can be clearly seen that flames are coming out from the exhaust of the car. This is clearly considered an illegal modification under the Motor Vehicle Act. Later in the video, the fine receipt is shown, in which the amount of Rs 1,11,500 is recorded. After this, a police officer standing near the seized car is shown, who confirms this action.
Heavy fine imposed on student, car also seized
- According to the information, this car belonged to a student from Kerala, who was studying in Bengaluru. Yelahanka RTO imposed a fine of Rs 1.11 lakh in this case and seized the vehicle. The traffic police clearly said that public roads are not a place for stunts or show off. Police warned that such illegal modifications are not only dangerous but also cause trouble to others.
Law regarding car modification in India
- Car modification is not completely banned in India, but strict rules have been made for it. Changes that affect the safety, noise level or emissions of the vehicle are considered illegal. ECU remapping, limited performance parts, RTO-approved CNG kits and special modifications for disabled drivers are permitted, provided all rules are followed.
Which modifications are illegal?
- Modifications such as loud aftermarket exhaust, modifications that emit fire or spark from the exhaust, pressure horns, dark window tint, bull bars, unapproved engine modifications and fancy number plates are illegal in India. Such changes not only lead to challan, but can also lead to vehicle confiscation.
