Subsidy will be available on converting old petrol-diesel cars into EV, Delhi government is preparing

Under its upcoming Electric Vehicle Policy 2.0, the Rekha Gupta government of Delhi is working on a plan to provide subsidy to owners on retrofitting old petrol and diesel cars into electric vehicles (EV).

According to this, financial assistance of Rs 50,000 will be given for the first 1,000 vehicles. The move is for owners who want to opt for converting their old cars to electric instead of scrapping them.

The aim is to reduce pollution

The proposal has just been placed for cabinet approval and is only a recommendation, after cabinet approval it will also be placed in the public domain, on which people and stakeholders will give their opinion. Its objective is to reduce air pollution and promote electric vehicles.

People will be attracted towards EV through the scheme

Under the scheme, more people will be attracted towards EVs by making it easier and cheaper to convert old petrol-diesel vehicles into electric ones.
