Sunetra Pawar, wife of Maharashtra Deputy CM and late Ajit Pawar, has demanded a CBI inquiry into the Baramati plane crash. On Tuesday (February 17), Sunetra Pawar met the CM along with NCP leaders. After this meeting, NCP leader Sunil Tatkare said that the CM has assured him that the state government will consult the Union Home Ministry regarding this. It is noteworthy that on January 28, in a tragic accident, Ajit Pawar’s plane crashed while going from Mumbai to Baramati and all five people on board died.
Memorandum submitted to CM
Sunil Tatkare said that NCP working president and MP Praful Patel, senior minister Hasan Mushrif and youth leader Parth Pawar also met Chief Minister Fadnavis on Tuesday afternoon. During this, the Chief Minister assured that a letter will be sent by the state government to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on this matter on Wednesday (February 18). Nationalist Congress wants CBI investigation, necessary steps will be taken in this regard. A memorandum was submitted to the CM in the meeting.
Major issues raised in the memorandum
- Serious irregularities and suspicious circumstances
- Last-minute changes to flight crew composition that require operational approval and scrutiny of the decision process
- Apparent discrepancies in air traffic control (ATC) communications and runway clearance sequences
- Concerns over the functioning of critical safety warning systems on board the aircraft
- No record of any emergency communication despite proximity to landing stage
- Requires forensic assessment of aspects related to crew fitness, aircraft maintenance, compliance and aircraft systems.
CM Fadnavis had ordered a CID investigation in this matter. But if there is a CBI investigation, a more comprehensive and thorough investigation is possible. Many times, when autonomous agencies conduct investigations, foreign agencies also get involved in the investigation of plane crashes. Nationalist Congress demands that this matter should be investigated in depth and after investigating all the issues raised, the findings should be presented before not only the state but also the people of the country as soon as possible.
Discussion on Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections
After meeting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, he met BJP State President Ravindra Chavan. Sunil Tatkare told that in the context of the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections held in the state, there was a discussion with BJP state president Ravindra Chavan on how to move forward in the form of a grand alliance. What is the thinking of BJP and what is the role of Nationalist Congress and Shiv Sena were also discussed. This discussion was cordial and satisfactory. BJP is our main ally in NDA, hence this conversation took place with the respect and honor of friendly parties.
News of displeasure of MLAs is baseless
Sunil Tatkare termed all the reports of any kind of displeasure of the MLAs as imaginary. He said that the Nationalist Congress Party and the state unit are working with complete unity and restraint in the legislature. Everyone has faith in the leadership of Sunetra Pawar, who is handling the responsibility of the organization as Deputy Chief Minister. He said that everyone in the party is standing firmly behind him.
