The Supreme Court has directed the West Bengal government to give 25% dearness allowance (DA) to the employees of the state government. Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Mehta have issued an interim order to the Mamta Banerjee government and directed to give DA to the employees within three months. Now this matter will be heard in August.
According to the report of news agency IANS, under the order of the Supreme Court, the West Bengal government will have to pay 25 percent of the DA to its employees soon. This step is being seen as a major relief for the state employees.
On this decision of the Supreme Court, West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari posted on the social media platform ‘X’. He wrote, ‘I welcome the instructions given by Supreme Court Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Mehta to the West Bengal government, in which he has asked the government to immediately give 25 percent dues to DA (Dearness Allowance) employees.
Suvendu Adhikaran further wrote, ‘This decision is a big victory for the employees of the West Bengal government. These are the same employees who have been fighting against the strictness and injustice of the state government for a long time- first by reaching the tribunal and then the Supreme Court. BJP -affiliated Employees Council (Union of Nationalist West Bengal government’s union) went ahead in this legal battle. Congratulations to all the members and officials of the organization for this victory, who raised their voice against the suppression of the Mamta government.
He also thanked Senior Advocate Paramjit Singh Patwala, eminent lawyer flute Swaraj and all the lawyers who advocated in the court on behalf of the employees. Suvendu Adhikari said that Mamta Banerjee once said that DA has no right, but today the Supreme Court has made it clear that DA is actually the right of employees. I hope that Mamata Banerjee will take responsibility for rejecting the rights of millions of state government employees for years and will resign.
