The court has converted the interim bail given last year into regular bail. The Supreme Court said that Abbas’s conduct during interim bail was correct, on the basis of which the bail is being regularized.
Supreme Court granted bail with conditions
The Supreme Court has also imposed some conditions on Abbas’s bail. The Supreme Court has said that Abbas will have to give information to the police and administration before leaving Uttar Pradesh. He will not create any hindrance in law and order and investigation process. Also, he will follow all the prescribed conditions.
The defense argued for settlement of the case
The hearing was conducted by the bench of CJI Surya Kant of India, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice Vipul M Pancholi. Senior advocates Kapil Sibal and Nizam Pasha presented arguments on behalf of Abbas Ansari. The defense side argued that Abbas has been in jail for a long time, the investigation of the case is almost complete and it may take time to dispose of the case. For this reason Abbas should get bail.
Abbas was arrested in gangster case in 2024
On November 4, 2022, Abbas Ansari was detained in other criminal cases. After this, a report was registered against Abbas on 31 August 2024 at Kotwali Karvi police station in Chitrakoot regarding extortion and assault. Abbas was arrested under the Gangster Act on 6 September 2024. In March 2025, in a relief to him, the bench had granted him bail in all other criminal cases except the Gangster Act case. Now the Supreme Court has released him in the gangster case also.
