Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina made his special mark in world cricket with his aggressive batting, excellent fielding and useful bowling. He was the pillar of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Raina was a part of the World Cup winning team in 2011. Born on 27 November 1986 in Muradnagar, Sonu i.e. Suresh Raina was fond of cricket since childhood. At the age of just 11, Raina would wake up at 4.30 in the morning to play cricket. The passion for cricket was such that in the hurry to get up in the morning, he could not even sleep properly throughout the night.
The family wanted Sonu to concentrate on studies, but the son was more interested in sports than studies. He was seen playing cricket on the playground more than studying in the room.
Eventually, Suresh Raina was selected in the Sports Hostel of Lucknow, but here the seniors made him do their personal work, but despite this, Raina did not leave cricket.
Raina made his first class debut in 2002/03. After this, in the year 2005, he got a place in India’s ODI team. Next year he also debuted in T20 format. In the year 2010, Raina also made a place in the Test team.
Explosive batsman Suresh Raina was a tremendous player in limited overs cricket. He was counted among the best fielders in the world. He was known as a selfless and cheerful player on the cricket field, who was always ready to give his best.
Suresh Raina is the first player to score centuries in all three formats of international cricket. He is also the first Indian to score a century in T20 International. Suresh Raina, the first player to score 5 thousand runs in IPL, played a total of 205 matches in this league.
Suresh Raina is included in the list of players who have scored a century in the debut test match. He is also among the few players who have scored 5 thousand runs and taken 100 catches in ODI format.
Suresh Raina played 18 test matches for India, in which he scored 768 runs at an average of 26.48. Apart from this, in 226 ODI matches he scored 5,615 runs with 5 centuries and 36 half-centuries. In 78 T20 matches, Raina has 1,605 runs in his name with an average of 29.18.
