Suryakumar Yadav to Saman Agha: The final match of the Asia Cup between India and Pakistan is being played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan’s team was all out at a score of 146 in 19.1 overs. But a turn came in this match when Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav throwed the Pakistani Captain Salman Aga to dismiss, but the ball started going to Salman. Suryakumar Yadav’s throw did not hit the wicket, but still the Indian captain started appealing before the umpire. After all, how did Suryakumar felt that Salman could be out and what the umpire gave on it, let us know about this rule of cricket.
Why did Suryakumar Yadav appeal?
When Pakistan’s team was batting, Akshar Patel came with the 15th over. The first ball of this over of Akshar played by Pakistani captain Salman Agha, on which Hussain Talat ran two runs with the captain. When Salman Aga was going to complete the second run, Suryakumar Yadav tried to run out the Pakistani captain, but Salman Aga started instead of the ball.
What is the rule of ICC?
When Salman came in between Agha’s ball and wicket, Suryakumar Yadav appealed for a run -out, because the Indian captain felt that if Salman Aga did not come in the middle, then the ball would go in the wicket and the Pakistani captain could be out. The umpire checked on the appeal of Suryakumar Yadav and said that on seeing it, it does not seem that the batsman has come in the middle. The umpire also felt that Salman did not change his direction while taking runs to stop the ball. He completed the run as he was running. The third umpire believed that Salman Aga did not deliberately come in the middle.
If the umpire felt that Salman Aga deliberately tried to save the wicket and changed his direction between the ball and the wicket, then the umpire could also give out the Pakistani captain on the appeal of Suryakumar Yadav. But in the India-Pakistan match, the umpire did not think so, so Salman Aga was not out on this ball.
Such a decision has been taken in a match between South Africa and West Indies team during the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2019. In this match, the umpire called this player out to prevent South African batsman Pillay from going to the ball wicket.
